On 7th Feb 2024 I did an optical comms test over 80km path which is NOT line of sight.
I had installed my new optical beacon (v2) (850nm light) and decided i wanted to try for the furthest distance yet…
I set the beacon to run at home and drove down near to Leeds just off the A1.
After a bit of a struggle with where i was meant to be pointing(!) i found the signal although very weak.
I don’t think the nearby trees helped here!!
