Yet another NLOS test tonight.
This one was over a more obstructed path the North Yorkshire Moors which are only 10km away from me.
The portable site was near Sutton Bank IO94jg43, distance 27km.
The horizon was clear apart from two trees about 100m away, these came in very handy when re-aligning the Rx, the signal was just about in line with the smaller tree.
Signal was very weak today, approx 12dB/0.3Hz, i could not decode any JT65.
Very few clouds as you will see from the atached (long exposure) photo, this maybe the reason for such weak signal at a shorter distance, some haze higher up.
I could detect the increase in receiver noise nicely from higher up clouds, just none where i needed them! The signal peaked <1deg above horizon, not a peep higher up.
Temp 8C, Humidity 85%.

I also attempted tests from two sites near to Hovingham but by that time the mist/fog had appeared and i could not located Bilsdale Tv mast in the distance.

More tests along this path to be tried when there is more cloud (!)
