This evening i've been out portable again for more NLOS tests, achieved 18km this time.

Temp 7c, Humidity ~90%, cloud cover >75%, visibility not as good as the last test.

The Tx was installed onto a pan/tilt head to allow me to adjust it remotely, at both locations is was best at 5deg elevation, any higher and the signals gradually faded out.
The Rx is now using 4x BPW34 very close together to widen the Rx beam a little, bit of a lashup and not in a screened box!

I made another test at the previous 10km site which gave me very similar reslts to the last attempt ~-4dB JT65C.
I then moved on to another site (IO94HI80) at 18km from home, unfortunately the spot i had hoped to use was knee high in mud so not accessible.
Anyway, i ended up using someone's gateway for a short period to conduct some tests and the signals were detected :-)
Best decode on JT65 was the first at -18dB but weaker than i had expected as it's not that much further away...
Due to the very temporary arrangement where i was i did not have things setup that well so the laptop screen was causing some noise on the Rx as seen in the spectrum plot.

When i returned home i sussed why tonight's test was not as good as expected at the second site... my 3m dish was blocking most of the light, more preparation time required next time!
